The show will end. Eventually. We all know this. So we enjoy it while we can and look forward to the years to come. But the people who say it’s just a fad clearly don’t understand what it’s like to be a true fan of something; to feel a connection at a level deeper than face value.
Being part of a community, such as the brony movement, isn’t a fad. I’m an active member of another fandom based around a video game that hasn’t seen a release of any kind since 1996 and 2007. The games have since withered away and died, but we didn’t. Every day someone’s writing new fanfiction, drawing new artwork, working on remix albums, and one’s even working on a fangame.
It’s an honest to Celestia blessing that the brony community exploded with growth while the show was still young. Call this a fad, will you? Let’s see where we are in five years. I’m sure as hay still going to be here. I’m just getting started.
